Prepaid Card and Gift Code Redemption Issues

Minecraft prepaid gift cards are now available through select “brick and mortar” retailers. More information about purchasing a prepaid card

Note: Gift codes can no longer be purchased from our site; today, all gift codes are purchased through Amazon.

Prepaid Minecraft Cards

Minecraft prepaid cards can be used on a Microsoft account (that is not already associated with a copy of the game) and entitle the cardholder to one Minecraft license (in other words, one copy of Minecraft).
If you have purchased a Minecraft: Java Edition prepaid card at a retail store, you can redeem your code by visiting our site and clicking REDEEM JAVA EDITION. You will be prompted to log in or create a Microsoft account. Once this is complete you can redeem your code and finish setting up your Minecraft profile.

Minecraft: Java Edition Gift Codes

Tip: Often, if you encounter an issue preventing you from redeeming a Minecraft: Java Edition gift code, it is due to a typo or the addition of an extra space when trying to redeem it. Be sure that you enter the code exactly as it appears. Check this first!

If you purchased your gift code from our site instead of Amazon, you may be unable to redeem your code. If this is the case, contact Minecraft Support and they can assist you in redeeming your code.

Have your gift code handy when submitting the Minecraft Support form. Mojang Studio gift codes come in two different formats: five sets of five numbers and letters (example: A1B2C-D3E4F-G5H6I-J7K8L-M9N0P), and three sets of four numbers and letters, either lowercase or uppercase (example: a1b2-c3d4-e5f6 or B2C3-D4F6-G7H8).
Please make sure that your gift code was originally purchased through Mojang Studios or Amazon. If you purchased your gift code through a different website than these two, we will not be able to assist you.

If you have a question that was not answered above, you can contact Minecraft Support with your prepaid card number, ten-digit PIN, or the gift code that was used, and a description of your issue or any error messages that you’ve received. Please double-check to make sure your PIN or code is correct when submitting your support request.
