Minecraft: Java Edition - How to fix a Missing DLL Error

Upon opening the Minecraft: Java Edition launcher, there is a chance you may run into this error. 


“Couldn’t load launcher core from C:\Program Files (x86)\Minecraft Launcher\game\launcher.dll: LoadErrorNotPresent 

No need to worry. Should you encounter this issue all you need to do is check your computer for software updates. Follow these instructions to ensure everything is up to date. 

  1. Check for and apply any updates your computer may need. Specifically, any graphics card or system updates. 
  2. Restart your computer once any updates have been completed.  
  3. From here your application should be good to go. By updating the software, missing files that launcher could not find are installed that prevented the application from opening.
