How to Log In to Minecraft

This article applies to Minecraft for Windows, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and other Bedrock Edition devices. For help signing in for Minecraft: Java Edition, see I Can’t Log In to My Minecraft: Java Edition account. 

Minecraft for Windows (Bedrock)

  1. Open Minecraft.
  2. Click on "Settings."
  3. Click on "Profile."
  4. Click on "Manage account"; The Xbox app should open shortly.
  5. Click on the settings button (looks like a gear, located on the left side of the screen.)
  6. Click on "Sign out," which should be located below the email address associated with your Microsoft account.
  7. Close out of the Xbox app and Minecraft.
  8. Open Minecraft again.
  9. Click on "Sign-in" (should be on the bottom left of the screen).
  10. Enter your Microsoft account credentials, or select the Microsoft account that appears on the login window (if one is already present), and sign in.

Minecraft for Xbox

  1. Close out of Minecraft if it is open.
  2. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
  3. Select "Profile & System."
  4. Select "Sign Out" (Your profile will be saved and accessible the next time you sign into this console.)
  5. Sign back into your profile.

If another profile is signed into the console or you need to switch profiles:

  1. Close out of Minecraft if it is open.
  2. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
  3. Select "Profile & System."
  4. Select "Add or Switch" and then select your profile.
  5. Press the Xbox button to open the guide again.
  6. Select "Profile & System" again.
  7. Select "Sign Out," and then select your account.
  8. Your profile will be saved and accessible the next time you want to sign into this console.
  9. Sign back into your profile.

Note: While previously you were able to change which Minecraft account you were logged into from the main menu, you must now do so from the console menu. However, we are rolling this new method out in phases. If you're still able to switch accounts while in-game and are having issues, contact Minecraft Support.

Minecraft for PlayStation & Nintendo Switch

  1. Open Minecraft.
  2. Select "Settings."
  3. Select "Profile."
  4. Select "sign out of your Microsoft Account."
  5. Select "Sign in for free!"
  6. You will be presented with an alphanumeric code and prompted to go to aka.ms/remoteconnect.
  7. Once you have gone to the Remote Connect page, enter the alphanumeric code you were given.
  8. Enter your Microsoft account credentials and sign in.

Minecraft for Mobile (Android, iOS, and Kindle Fire)

  1. Open Minecraft.
  2. Tap on "Settings."
  3. Tap on "Profile."
  4. Tap on "Sign out of your Microsoft Account" and confirm by selecting the “Sign Out” button.
  5. Restart Minecraft.
  6. From the Minecraft main menu, select “Sign In” and follow the prompts that appear.
  7. Enter your Microsoft account credentials and sign in.

Important: when you reach the Xbox account page (which will display your Xbox profile photo, Gamertag, and Microsoft email), verify that the Microsoft account information is correct. If the account information is incorrect, select the “Sign in with a different account” button; you will be redirected to a Microsoft sign-in page.

If the Microsoft account you sign in with does not have an Xbox profile set up, you will be prompted to set up an Xbox profile and Gamertag.

If you experience issues when attempting to log in, try using the Xbox App:

  1. Download the free Xbox app from your mobile device’s app marketplace.  
  2. Open the Xbox app.  
  3. Log in to the account you want to play with.  
  4. Try signing in again on your Xbox/PC/device.
