What are the Device Requirements to Run Minecraft?

Minecraft is playable on multiple platforms, each with its own version and device requirements. This article explains the different versions, the devices that they can be played on, and any restrictions for those platforms.

Minecraft: Java Edition 

Minimum Requirements 

CPU: Intel Core i3-3210 3.2 GHz / AMD A8-7600 APU 3.1 GHz or equivalent  

RAM: 2 GB  

OS: Windows 7 and up or OS X 10.10 Yosemite (Linux varies by OS, but for screen read functionality we require Orca 3.32 or higher) 

VIDEO CARD: Integrated: Intel HD Graphics 4000 (Ivy Bridge) or AMD Radeon R5 series (Kaveri line) with OpenGL 4.41Discrete: Nvidia GeForce 400 Series or AMD Radeon HD 7000 series with OpenGL 4.4  

PIXEL SHADER: 5.0  

VERTEX SHADER: 5.0  

FREE DISK SPACE: At least 1 GB  

 

Recommended Requirements 

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690 3.5GHz / AMD A10-7800 APU 3.5 GHz or equivalent  

RAM: 4 GB  

OS: Windows 10 or macOS 10.13 High Sierra 

VIDEO CARD: GeForce 700 Series or AMD Radeon Rx 200 Series (excluding integrated chipsets) with OpenGL 4.5  

PIXEL SHADER: 5.0  

VERTEX SHADER: 5.0  

FREE DISK SPACE: 4 GB  

DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 256 MB  

For desktop and laptops, you can run either version Java or Windows 10. Minecraft for Windows 10 can be installed from the Microsoft Store. Minecraft: Java Edition can be installed from our website.

Playable on Apple devices that have IOS 10.0 or later   

 

Nintendo 

You can play Minecraft for Nintendo Switch on the Nintendo Switch. Minecraft can be installed from the Nintendo eShop

Supported Play Modes: TV mode, Tabletop mode, Handheld mode  

 

PlayStation® 

You can play Minecraft for PlayStation® 4 on the following consoles: 

  • PS4™  
  • PS5™  
  • PS4® Pro 
  • PlayStation® VR 

 Minecraft can be installed from the PlayStation® Store on PS4™ and PS5™.  

PS Plus is required for online play.

Your device must meet all minimum requirements to use this product.

Minecraft can be installed from the Microsoft Store on Xbox One or through Xbox Game Pass.
